New Smyrna Beach Florida

My favorite Florida beach? New Smyrna Beach Florida! It is a small Florida town that is a little off of the beaten path, about an hour away from Orlando, 15 minutes away from Daytona Beach, and 45 minutes away from Cocoa Beach, Florida.

There are so many beaches in Florida to choose from but New Smyrna Beach definitely wins first prize in my books! This beach is one of the few in the country that you can still drive your vehicle on so if you choose to do so, you can pack up your car with a cooler of drinks, a box lunch, your lawn chair, music, rafts, floats, and just drive straight to the water and park and ENJOY!

The water at New Smyrna Beach FL, is absolutely beautiful and the sand is clean…you can walk, run, jog, drive, ride bikes, and mo-ped down the beach all day long! I stayed in a vacation rental condominium during my stay there, and it was right on the Atlantic Ocean! We were able to walk from our condo straight out the back door and be on the sand! Although we didn’t have a condo that was in the “busy” part of the small beach town, we were able to drive or bike to restaurants, shopping, and entertainment venues.

And speaking of things to do…there is one main street in the town that leads to the beach that is filled with unique shops and restaurants. There are restaurants right on the beach, and some a little further away, but all the ones we tried (and we went out EVERY night!) had excellent food of all varieties. There was seafood, fresh of course, steak houses, Italian cuisine, and other fine dining establishments. There were small cafes, wine bars, ice cream shops, and so much more.

The environment on the beach and in the town was very, very friendly and very conducive to all types of personalities. There are activities for kids, older people, young kids, and your average adult. There are parks available if families choose not to eat out all the time. There is shopping available for food and other supplies, and there are fast food restaurants, fine dining, and on the street cafes.

The traffic isn’t so bad that anyone gets uncomfortable in the car either on the drive, or once they are there because it is a pretty small town and even once you are there, you can pretty much get into restaurants, movies, stores, and parks, without having a long wait.

In New Smyrna Beach, there are surfers hanging out with kids, kids hanging out with grandparents, and “twenty somethings” finding plenty to do: a real mixture of people! The beach is beautiful, the town is friendly and clean, and my experience was AWESOME! I'll definitely visit New Smyrna Beach Florida again, and would highly recommend it to anyone else looking for an easy going atmosphere at a Florida beach!
