Sunset at Panama City, Florida
I had the good fortune of living in Lower Alabama for the good part of a year, when I attended Rotary Wing flight school at Fort Rucker. The
great thing about lower Alabama is that it’s located so close to the beautiful state of Florida.
My friends and I would take frequent trips south toward the panhandle towns of Destin, Panama City Beach and Tallahassee. For young bucks like us, we found entertainment in Panama City beach in numerous places. During the day, we’d soak up the warm southern sun on the sandy white Florida beaches. Originally from the west coast of the United States where the ocean temperatures average around 55 degrees F, I was amazed at how warm the Gulf of Mexico was.
When the sun set and the Gulf beaches emptied of all but the most dedicated ocean lovers, we would generally make our way to one of Panama City Beach’s well-known night clubs. It never failed to be a good time, as there was always a live band to listen to, plenty of beautiful people to talk to and lots of great drinks! Spinnaker’s was my favorite place to spend the evenings.
It's located just down the road from the beachfront hotels. If you don’t feel like taking a cab or driving, it's just a quick jaunt on foot from your hotel.
Panama City is a young town full of life and entertainment. I look forward to the opportunity to go back and re-live some of my younger days.
