Howard Park, near Tarpon Springs, Florida
My favorite of the Florida beaches is the Howard Park beach @ Tarpon Springs, Florida. Here's why I love it!
My boyfriend, Adam, and I went down to visit my grandmother in Florida for spring break. Living in the Northeast U.S., during March, one doesn't see much sun! We decided to visit with my grandmother, in her rental apartment in Newport Richey, Fl for a week.
We spent most of our time enjoying the beaches in the area!
One evening, Adam asked me if I'd like to go over to the beach at the park and watch the sun set. It was a beautiful spring day. Not too hot, but not too nippy either. We grabbed a few beach towels, pulled on our hoodies in case it got chilly, and drove over to the beach.
On the way, I reached over to pat Adam on the leg, and he recoiled instantly, as though my touch burned. "What's wrong?" I asked, feeling very hurt. "Um, nothing. Just don't touch my leg."
I looked down and noticed that the spot I had touched was where his pocket was. There was something in that pocket. It looked square and solid.
"What's that?" I asked. "What's what?"
"What's in your pocket?" "Nothing."
"Then why don't you want me to touch your leg?"
"I have a rash," Adam replied, smiling deviously.
When we got to the beach, everything looked so beautiful. There were very few people there, since it was still spring and the weather wasn't very warm (but warm enough for us Northerners: 65-70 degrees!)
We found a nice spot in the sand, close enough to the water to enjoy it without getting soaked by the incoming tide. The sky was painted with fire: reds, oranges, yellows, pinks, and edges of dark blue.Inside the box was a ring.
"Will you marry me?" he asked.
"Yes, please," I said.
We have now been happily married for three years. We intend to revisit Howard Park on our 5th anniversary, so that we can relive that magical moment once more!
Another beach memory!
