Sarasota Florida: My Favorite Beach in Florida!
As I am a Florida resident, I have visited a number of different cities in Florida, but my very favorite place to visit, is Sarasota, FL. Florida Vacation Ideas
Last year, my boyfriend took me for my birthday, for a Florida beach vacation to Sarasota! We had visited Sarasota on vacation once before, but we had allotted more time on this trip, to do everything we wanted that we didn't have the chance to do on our last trip, and also more of the things we loved from our last trip again!
I'd have to say that my favorite attraction in Sarasota, is the Ringling Museum. This art museum is absolutely huge, and contains many, many works of art by some very famous artists from history. Some of my favorites are works by Rubens, El Greco, and Velazquez. Walking into the first room full of giant Rubens paintings, took my breath away. One side of the museum is dedicated to the old masters such as these, while the other side has some more modern, recent works of art. The entire museum was really beautiful.
Outside, there is a large courtyard with fountains and flowers, as well as a very large reproduction of the statue of David. Since the Ringling Museum obviously has ties to the Ringling Brothers, there is also a circus museum with plenty of fun things to see about the history of the circus. The gardens leading from one part of the museum to another, are also quite lovely, with a circling rose garden and gazebo as its main feature. There is so much to see that each time I go back, it feels like I'm there for the first time!
We also visited the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, which was an attraction that we wanted to see on a previous trip, but did not have the time. When we visited, they were hosting an Asian festival. There were Japanese drummers performing in the center of the gardens, with various plant life and statues featured around the area. There were also stalls selling local Asian foods and handmade crafts. In one of the garden's buildings, was a bonzai tree competition, where visitors could view beautifully designed bonzais and vote for their favorites. The regular features of the garden were just as exciting, with countless types of plant life, and a greenhouse full of strange and exotic flowers I had never seen before, even in pictures.
To relax on the day before we left, we drove a short distance to Lido Beach to spend a day in the sun. The beaches in Sarasota are my favorite beaches in Florida because of their soft, white sand and west coast views of the sunset. There are even some different animals found among the plants in the dunes, most notably real live beach bunnies!
Sarasota is a great place to vacation in Florida, whether you're looking for beaches, arts, or other attractions. Even if you're looking for a place for a family vacation in Florida, or planning a trip to a Florida theme park, it is just a short drive to Tampa and Busch Gardens. It's also perfect for a romantic getaway too!
I love Sarasota and highly recommend it!
