Carrabba's Italian Grill
by Charlie DeFrancesco
I am an Italian at heart, as all four grandparents immigrated from Sicily.
I grew up in a very ethnic neighborhood of Northeastern Pennsylvania. This was a town where 9 out of 10 residents were Italian, and to this day, the local churches still carry the patron Saints through the streets on holidays.
It was a place where the 'Godfather' would have felt at home, and the smell of freshly cooked spaghetti sauce could be smelled in the streets every Sunday!
Needless to say, because of this, I am very "fussy" and particular when it comes to choosing an Italian restaurant at which to dine.
I have been visiting Naples for 25 years, and have eaten at a wide variety of Naples restaurants. However, when I stumbled upon Carrabba's, I knew I had hit pay dirt! At first, it was a bit disheartening to see the large crowd of people waiting outside the restaurant to be seated. But, I soon realized this place was indeed a local hot spot!
Inside, Carrabba's offers a casual dining experience with a laid back atmosphere not unlike that experienced in the dining room of a typical Italian family's home. I have always been a believer that it is not necessary to pay outrageous prices to obtain high quality food.
Carrabba's offers large portions of delicious entrees at very reasonable prices. My personal favorites.... Linguine Pescatore and Chicken Marsala.
The wait staff is always courteous and efficient, and the restaurant is very "kid- friendly", too. Overall, it's my favorite Italian restaurant in Naples!
